Planning a wedding is not rocket science. Check with family and friends for recommendations. And don't forget free sources like Craigslist. You can run your own ads at no cost. Something like, "Need size 6 wedding gown," or Looking for a low-cost wedding photographer (wedding cake) (formal wear, etc.)

When dealing with merchants make it clear at the outset that you have a very limited budget and will keep looking to find the best offer.
Make up your vendor's list using the Internet. Classified ads really can't tell you much. A big ad in the Yellow Pages doesn't always equate to a very busy, successful vendor.
