Article
marketing for beginners can be accomplished in three simple steps. Read through
all of these steps before attempting to post your first article. That way you
will have an idea why each step is so important. The Internet gurus tell us
that to make money on the Internet, you will need a website. Actually you can
get by without one—and the expense that goes along with buying a domain name,
signing on with a website host for a monthly fee and building the website.
Below is how I got started and if you follow this outline, you can be up and
running in very little time.
First I recommend you establish an account with ClickBank
(CB).
Founded in 1998, ClickBank is a secure online retail outlet for more than
12,000 digital product vendors and 100,000 active affiliate marketers. CB makes
a sale somewhere in the world every three seconds, safely processing more than
26,000 digital transactions a day. They serve more than 200 countries, and are
consistently ranked as one of the most highly-trafficked sites on the web.
ClickBank is privately held with offices in Broomfield, Colorado and Boise,
Idaho. Click Sales Inc. is a subsidiary of Keynetics Inc. Since founding, CB
has paid out over $1.4 Billion in royalties to vendors and affiliates. Register
as an affiliate at this link: ==> CLICKBANK
1.
Fill
out the registration form and choose a nickname. This is used to keep track of
who gets the commission when a product is sold. How that is accomplished will
be covered below. There is NO CHARGE to register with CB.
2.
Next
you will choose a product(s) that you think you can sell. Keep in mind that you
will never handle the product or collect the purchase price for it, be
responsible for delivering it to the buyer or have to deal with customers one-on-one.
CB handles all of that. From CB’s homepage, click on Marketplace. It’s best to
begin by choosing products you are familiar with. I chose photography as one of
my first products since I’ve been a photographer for over 40 years. Use the
search window and type in the topic you are looking for. A list of products fitting your description
will appear. Here are just a few basic tips when choosing a product.
a.
You’ll
see several categories listed with each product. The one you should consider
first is the rate of commissions. They will vary from 35% to 75%. It just makes
good sense to start off with the higher commission rate.
b. Next thing to look at
is grav. (Gravity). The grav. Number
comes from a complex formula known only to CB, but it reflects how many affiliate
sales have been made over the previous week. Avoid high numbers like 435.0,
375.2 etc. as these numbers mean very high competition. Once you have the
expertise, then go for high grav. products. I usually go with products around
grav. 100 or so, but I do have some down around 2-4, as these may be new
products and are just getting noticed by affiliates.
c. Click on the headline
of the product. This will take you to the vendor’s Pitch Page. Read about the
product, and see how good a sales job the vendor has done. If the webpage is
confusing or loaded with a lot of ads for other products, move on the next
product on the list.
d. If you like the
product (would you buy it?) then click on PROMOTE. Here is where you get your
HOP Link from CB. This is the link you will use in Step 3. This is the link the
prospective buyer clicks on to view the product (the pitch page). This link is
coded with your information so CB knows where to send the commission check.
There
is NO CHARGE for this step.
3. Write and Post
Articles. The Internet is loaded with hundreds of article directories and
ezines. You will write articles relative to your product; For example: If
you are promoting a book on dog training your article should give the
reader a few tips on how they should train their dog, or why dogs do what
they do. Most article directories will reject your article if it is all a
sales pitch for your product. They all stress CONTENT because that’s what
the search engines are looking for. After you register on the article
site, search their article database for articles on the same topics as
yours. See how different authors handle the site guidelines. And what kind
of content they offer.
Here are the addresses of
two article sites I recommend you begin with. The reason for this is that these
two sites permit you to use Direct
Affiliate Links. This means that the link you just got from CB can be put
directly into your article. The majority of other sites do not permit affiliate
links. In this case you would need a website. You would place your
website address in the article and then re-direct the buyer to the vendor.
Sorry…that’s the way it is.

There is NO CHARGE to post articles and some sites pay
authors a percentage of what they receive from Pay Per Click (PPC) ads they
post alongside of the articles.
Yes…as you can well imagine, there is a lot more to
article marketing than what I’ve covered. Over time you need to learn how to
find NICHES—pockets of people searching for specific information. You must
learn the importance of KEY WORDS and how to use them to your advantage.
To learn more about the article writing process I suggest
you look into an e-book by Jim Edwards. It’s the one purchase I made that has
helped me get really into article marketing. Since taking this course I was
given EXPERT AUTHOR status with Ezine Articles—one of the toughest sites to get
published on and one of Google’s favorites. I’ve had five articles make the
number one spot on Google’s first page recently. Not bad for a rookie! LEARN
